Dance DescriptionsTango
Tango is earthy and dramatic. Although walking movements dominate, Tango walks, having a “stalking” or “sneaking” character, are unlike the walks of other ballroom dances.
In this class students learn how to lead and follow various social patterns that are danced on any American dance floor scene.

Waltz
The movement of waltz is characterized by the use of Sway, Rise, and Fall. The rising and falling actions should be very smooth.
In proper character the waltz should be soft, gentle, and romantic. Learning the waltz helps with balance and grace.

Foxtrot
Foxtrot is a smooth progressive dance characterized by long, continuous flowing movements across the dance floor. The Bronze level Foxtrot, truest to the original Harry Fox version, is a simple combination of walks and chasses ideal for social dancing. This dance is used often at Wedding functions.

Rumba
Cuban motion is an essential element of the dance. It is produced by hip action that comes mainly from the alternate bending and straightening of the knees.

East Coast Swing
Also known as the Lindy or Jitterbug, E.C swing is the most popular dance in America today. It is danced under fast swing music, including rock and roll. It is a must to know dance.

Merengue
Merengue is a fun dance and it’s very easy to learn. The old saying is that if you can walk, you can dance the merengue. Dancing the merengue is like marching where you step left right left right left right in time to the music. It is danced everywhere and it is a lot of fun.

Salsa
Salsa is a Latin American dance that comes from Cuba and Puerto Rico due to a lot of African rhythm influence from the slaves the Spaniards brought over. It consists of a lot of hip movements, fluid transitions and intricate footwork. It is also a must-know dance that brings excitement on the social scene.

At the end of the 12 week sessions, each student will earn a social foundation
Certificate of Completion..
